A new detached accessory dwelling & art studio in North Seattle.
The thermal shell is comprised of Structural Insulated Panels (SIP’s) which help to minimize thermal bridging compared to traditional stud-framed dwellings; and as the SIPs are manufactured off-site, the entire shell can be erected in a manner of days.
The siding is 2” thick natural cork which is sustainably harvested, environmentally friendly, and provides additional layer of insulation of about R-8. Over time it will lighten to light grey. You can learn more about it from the local supplier Small Planet Supply.
The buildings were situated in the back yard to provide privacy and light to each of the 3 units.
